I've always viewed therapy as a tool. A tool that can be used to facilitate growth and change. Its a space to be seen, heard and acknowledged. An opportunity to learn new skills and practice them without fear of the repercussions. To explore your own internal world. In the words of Bessel van de Kolk “Neuroscience research shows that the only way we can change the way we feel, is by becoming aware of our inner experience and learning to befriend what is going inside ourselves.” Therapy is a space that's just for you, in a world that doesn't prioritise that enough.
In my Private Practice I work with adults over the age of 18. This includes individuals of all genders, sexual orientation, religious and spiritual beliefs. Sessions are offered on a short or long term basis to meet your needs, face to face in my office in Macclesfield or online via Zoom.
As an Integrative Counsellor I incorporate elements of Person Centred, Cognitive Behavioural and Transactional Analysis therapeutic models. This means I tailor the therapeutic process to fit you and your individual needs. My understanding of human beings is that to be connected to our intuition, we must also be connected to our body. My approach utilises the latest developments in Neuroscience and evidence based therapeutic interventions to deepen this connection.
I have extensive experience working in the mental health and wellbeing arena. Currently I share my time between two therapeutic roles.
The first as an Integrative Counsellor in my own Private Practice which I opened in 2018, offering individual 1-2-1 therapy sessions. In my second role, I am a member of the therapy team at The Priory Hospital Altrincham. I have worked at The Priory since 2015 in varying supportive roles. Initially supporting inpatient clients receiving psychiatric care, this gave me in-depth experience of working with individuals in crisis. In 2021 I moved from working on the wards to the onsite therapy team. Here I deliver group therapy, bespoke workshops, and 1-2-1 therapy sessions to inpatient and outpatient individuals.
Prior to my current roles I worked for Beacon Counselling Stockport (2017-2019), as an Integrative Counsellor on their Private Practice service, and as a mentor for Pure Insight (2014-2016), a local charity who support care leavers as they transition to independent living.
In February 2023 I became an Accredited Member of the BACP. Accreditation defined by the BACP as 'A quality status for experienced practitioners who can demonstrate high standards of competent and ethical practice'.
Prior to this I completed my core training in 2018 as follows:
ABC Level 4: Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Received 2018)
ABC Level 3: Certificate in Counselling Skills (Received 2015)

In addition to my core training I regularly invest in my own professional development, meaning I am continuously updating my knowledge and skill set.
